15th July.

Must have been the bed cause we slept in. Annette said it was because the room was dark. Maybe a bit of both, or maybe it was because we knew we didn't have far to walk today. Off about 9am and not a cloud in the sky. Breakfast purchased on the way out of town and consumed just after we crossed the La Dordogne River in the shadow of this chateau.

All road walking today, half on a busy road, the rest on a single bitumen road winding through farmland on the river flat. Popular and walnut plantations mixed with maize and what looked like tobacco plants.

Apart from being on the bitumen it was pleasant and mostly in the shade. Arrived at our destination Saint Julien de Lanpon just as the shops closed early (12.50) for their lunch so we missed out.

Off to the caravan park just across the river at Roussillac to find that it had closed down yet all the big signs were still along the roads. Should be a law that requires you to remove all signage once the business is closed. Back across the bridge to the large municipal caravan park and tent set up on a nice grassy pitch. In to the river for a swim and boy was it cold to begin with. There was a good strong current and lots of people and kids enjoying the water. Here's Annette checking out the little fish before she got out.

Shower and clothes on the line and a bit of a snooze in the shade waiting for them to dry. Back across the river to see if we could find any where to eat tonight. Nothing on offer except pizza so back to the caravan park to check out the snack bar where I had steak and chips and Annette had steak and salad which consisted of just lettuce. Very nice eating steak with mushroom sauce. Finished with two huge ice-cream type dessert which Annette wanted me to take a photo of but I was too embarrassed to even be seen eating them. Back to the tent to sleep except I had the biggest pain in the stomach from my dessert. That will teach me. Also teach us for not checking out what was on offer at the caravan park first. It's the second time we have been caught out like that.
