9th July.

Today we tackled the GR trail system for the whole days walk. I had a bad nights sleep. My mattress was flat and I was on the hard ground. I asked Annette if she had blown them up. Too much she said, mine was too hard. Too hard!!!!!! Maybe it's another case of I don't really like doing it, so do a bad job and he won't let me do it again.
Off late for us 7.30am. No time for breakfast so stopped and purchased two raisin scrolls and another pastry thing. Doesn't matter what it is called, they are all delicious and no good for you. Oh well, we thought we would soon burned them off.
Followed the GR signs and up out of town straight away and I mean up.

A pretty walk and a pretty strenuous one too.

Stopped near the top and had breakfast. I think our heart rates and breathing burnt off the scrolls as we ate them. Before we finished a couple of those European wasps were buzzing around. Haven't been bothered a lot but they are becoming more common.

Off again and the trail varied from forest track to farm land on dirt, bitumen and gravel. We used the iPad and could locate our position at any time on the iPad map so we had no trouble finding our way. It is great. Came across this shady character. A couple of car loads of people and a farmer on a tractor were putting all sorts of cardboard cut outs and other characters out along the roads. No idea what for.

Tried a few sweet green plums and blackberries from along the side of the road. Won't have to buy her lunch today.

A lot of the old farm houses are being renovated and they look great. Sighted Curemonte, our stop for the night. She is looking forward to it. So am I, but for different reasons.

Yep, the GR took us up through here. Not even Karen tried this. Looks like she is thinking, "We have to go up there, oh bugger." I don't blame here, even my feet are sore today.

Into the centre of town and find the Market place and off with the packs. Only the odd tourist around. Cheese and biscuits from the pack accompanied with water. Anything is lovely when you are tired, sore and hungry. (Less for me to carry tomorrow).

Annette off to the toilet to be robbed of 50c as the door wouldn't open. She did find a map which showed up what end of the main street we were staying so that was good. Off we go and booked in to the Chambers d'hotel la Grotste. Nice old place where they can speak as much English as we can French. Unpack, bit of a rest and off to visit the town.

A couple of nice old buildings but you can't get in to visit the chateau until tomorrow afternoon, pity caused it looked interesting. This one would be ok to do up?

Back to the d'hotel and Annette said I was snoring in no time. Awake at 7.00pm and down to update the blog and dinner at 8.00pm. Lady of the house took our order the best she could and I have no idea what we were going to get. 14 other patrons with 2 others there when we stated. Looked like one of their parents. Anyway, by watching them we knew which utensil to use when and how.

They also provided the entertainment for us. Heaps of food, that much you just could not eat it all. Annette stared with a peach drink and I think mine was nectarine. Can't be sure but it was like port and the rest of the meal is a bit of a blur now.

What did we have. Some sort of pressed meats and bread. I was trying to remember where I had smelt something similar when it occurred to me it came with a picture of a cat on the can. Himmm. Sorry, I think we had soup first. It came out to the table in a container, you know the ones that you are suppose to serve soup from but never do. Too much for two, so some had to go back. Then the pressed meat. Then duck and a potato dish. Again just came out on one dish and you helped yourself. ( to it all). Then four cheeses, two goat, one cow and one hard one I have no idea where from. The goat was so, so. The hard one was good and the cow was yummy. (Annette went off to the toot to make room at this stage.) The last was nectarine and strawberries. Now the kids will remember the strawberries we used to grow under the shade house at the block. Not real big but very sweet. These were like that, absolutely yummy. Not like the oversized rubbish from the super markets at home. More wine that we could finish drinking and we were lucky that there were only four steps to get to our room and I think we will be lucky to wake up in time for breakfast and you have no idea how hard it has been to do this blog tonight.
