21st July.

Rained on and off most of the night like I just knew it would. Tent wet and ground sheet muddy. Lucky we weren't far from the shower block which had a table under cover so gear packed up and walked back into town for hot drink and some breakfast. Over the bridge and unable to find anywhere for a hot drink so some bread for lunch and a couple of raisin rolls purchased. Off out of town on the GR trail and up a long up hill slog. Talking too much and got to the top and realised that we had not seen a trail marking for a while. Yep, missed a turn off way back down the hill and a quick check of the map showed us that there was no getting around going back down. Down and found an overgrown track and off.

Stopped at the Chateau et jardins de Losse where I found a nice water trough in the garden.

Rumoured to have a nice garden. Started to do the tour of the chateau but it was in French and after two rooms my feet were hurting standing around so I was out of there. Annette lasted another 3 more rooms and she came out. Had a look around the grounds and it was interesting enough with a big ditch around 3 sides and the river on the fourth. Don't know if it ever had water in it.

Disappointed with the garden as it was just a lot of green hedges with a bit of boring planting and lawn in the so called garden rooms.

The GR now went up into the hills and wandered about so we decided to take the main road into St Leon-sur-Vezere. Plenty of traffic and not much room to walk so not a pleasant time. Should have taken the longer route. Finally into town and pleasant enough place and found the very small, crowded municipal caravan park. Asked if we could share a pitch with an elderly couple who were using only half of theirs and they agreed. Good site facing the river. Spent the next couple of hours washing mud off the ground sheet and drying everything out. Lucky we had a bit of sun near the end otherwise we would have been in a damp tent tonight. Back into town and had a look around.
Dinner of steak, chips and salad and it was delicious and back to get an early night to make up for last night. View from the tent. Hope it doesn't rain too much tonight as it looks like the river is rising.
