17th July.

Rained and more rain during the night. Big run off drips coming from the tree right onto the door of the tent. Whoever has to get out won't have a dry back that's for sure. I think we both held out until it nearly stopped raining and gear and tent packed up. Off to Domme today and first stop breakfast at Carsac-Aillac. Just made it under cover for hot chocolate and treats when done the rain came again. Annette got a bit wet so she put all her wet weather gear on and I took a chance and went shorts and tee-shirt. We did make a bit of a sight. I fear I'm looking more and more like a old bushy gold miner with his younger side kick. Of course Annette got hot with her wet weather gear on so there are some advantages. Off and found this large house on the outskirts of town.

View of river with Montford in background. Is that Vince in the v
Background in his shorts and tee-shirt. Obviously came out of a dry vehicle.

This was an interesting village with plenty of little details to see.

Arrived at the village of Montfort to find a fairytale castle in the middle of town on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the river. It even had ravens flying around the roofs. Not open to visitors as some lucky ducks are living in it.

Came across this old doorway and window in the side of the cliff.

Some hard road walking with not much room to spare.

Lots of walnut plantations.

Crossed the river at Vitrac and set up the tent and gear to dry near a toilet block and tables. Just got it dry and packed up when another heavy shower of rain came sweeping in and we spent twenty minutes huddled under the toilet eves. Finally off and arrived at the Municipal caravan park at the foot of Domme. Wasn't impressed by the lady running the place. You would have thought we were lepers. Gave us a dirty pitch and wouldn't change it saying all the others were full. We could see plenty of very nice grassy pitches that were not used that night but probably had electricity points. As if we had a fridge and air conditioner in our packs.
Raining nicely.

Off to climb up to the top of the cliffs were the old fortified village of Domme overlooks the la Dordogne river keeping a very watchful eye on the weather. On the way checked out where we thought we would have dinner. Domme very much set up to carter for the tourist. Started to rain so checked out the church and these four were singing away.

View of the river from Domme. Our tent is under the grove of trees in the bottom left corner.

Hungry so purchased some expensive chocolate from one of the tourist shops. It was awful. I guess as a tourist you are not going to be a repeat customer but how hard is it ruin chocolate?

Back down without getting wet and sitting outside of the restaurant having a couple of drinks when a gent who we spoke to on the way up pulls up in a Nissan Z. He came over and in my best French told him it was a beautiful machine. Next minute I'm in it and been given a quick drive around the town. Eat your heart out Garrie. It was every bit as nice on the inside as out and as quick as I thought. The only fault I could find is that it kept bottoming out so it must have been very low or all this walking is not working.

Actually there was another fault, even though I was in our drivers side and it felt as if I should have been driving, I wasn't. Back to the restaurant and into the drivers seat for a photo shoot and then he is getting me to start it up. I had to stop right there and roll back out. Yes, Garrie, it was still just as hard to get out of although I don't know why you would want to.

Into the restaurant and it was a steak grilling place where the chef cuts and cooks the steak in the same room. Lovely meals and I had a strawberry and some sort of liquid mix that was lightly cooked and it was beautiful.

Back to the caravan park where it rained a bit during the night and both Annette and I dreamt of ways to get even with the grouch at reception.
