18th July.

Up at the crack of dawn and off as we had a full days walking. Back across the river and into the lovely village of La Roque-Gageac which was jammed between the river and the cliffs.

The boats on the river didn't start operating until 10am and only went half an hour down river so weren't worth waiting for. One of the many nice buildings.

Off across the river and visited the Chateau Des Milandes, where a former owner was Josephine Baker. She was an American Negro entertainer who made good in France. It was set up inside to display the time she was there and you got a pretty good look at the place. Again pretty enough and worth the extra effort.

Nearly forgot. They have trained birds of prey and a display had just started when we arrived. It was interesting and some of the birds were landing in amongst the people so you got a really good look at them.

Off and looking like rain but it held off for awhile. Stopped to wait out a small shower behind a few young ash trees and ended up spending nearly half and hour holding up a plastic bag keeping the downpour off us. Again that will teach is. On with the wet weather gear when it stopped raining enough for us to put it on without getting everything soaked. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it.

Off in the rain for awhile and back across the river to find the caravan park near St-Cyprien. Lucky enough to get the tent and gear dry and packed away before it rained again. Washing machine and dryer present so everything including us given a good soak. Funny how the most mundane thing can brighten up a day. The shower had a great big old fashion rose that just let the hot water fall all over you. Bliss, just bliss. If it wasn't for Annette waiting for the towel to wash I would have pulled the stool in and just sat there for ages.

Off for a walk into town to explore the place and had a reasonable meal. Nice old back streets. Found this unusual looking house and grounds.

Back and into the tent on dark and good night to all.
